Through displaying tenacity in order to secure a finals appearance berth, Apple Green – DCCD cagers dismantled White – ARUP’s hope and bolted their second straight win, 71-46, in 7th Consultants’ Cup preliminaries held at JCSGO Christian Academy Gymnasium, April 27.
The apple green players mounted an overwhelming 14-point lead against their foes by securing all the posts and showering them with gunshots in the first quarter of the match, 18-4. It was observable that ARUP had a difficult time to find their momentum and to execute their plays without DCCD’s interference.
When the first half continued, several bench players of the winning team took the spotlight and still managed to defend their territory with a much bigger difference to conquer white team’s score, 32-11.
In the aggregation of the second half, the ARUP cagers somehow organized their fences and had a smooth ball distribution to counter DCCD’s aggression and speed. Each shots now by the leading team were being responded with a return blow but the total effort seemed to be insufficient because of too little time remaining on the clock — locking the final score at 71-46.
“Teamwork talaga ‘yong nagwo-work para sa team namin, matagal na kasi kaming magkakasama. Tapos mayro’n din kaming presence of mind, ‘yon ‘yong lamang namin sa kalaban,” said DCCD’s Kyle Fajardo, best player of the match.
Currently, the apple green team enjoys a clean slate with a 2-0 mark while ARUP falls to a 0-2 tally on the team standing.
