WSP cagers bite back, dominate RD Aguilos

With an intention to bounce back from their defeat last game, Gray – WSP players pulled off a shocker on Emerald Green – RD Aguilos cagers despite the latter’s sweep on its first two games, 65-36, in the preliminaries of 7th Consultants’ Cup held at JCSGO Christian Academy Gymnasium, April 13.

Tasting now its first loss, the green team actually fenced its borders precisely in the first canto to sustain its defense against the aggressiveness being showcased by the opponent but WSP was determined to generate an early onslaught resulting in a tight start, 17-13 in favor of the gray team.

The hard court battle continued in the remaining minutes of the first half with both teams’ unyielding grip on the podium. It turned out to be a scoring showdown between WSP and RD Aguilos that fueled their campaign in the second quarter, 31-29.

Igniting a late charge, the gray cagers surged ahead in the second half with an early bomb after amassing six consecutive shots and limiting their opponent to score with a paltry seven points in the totality of that 20-minute clash.

It was observable that the emerald green team lost its momentum in sustaining their attacks plus several miscalculations also contributed in the team’s scoring drought.

“Last game kasi hindi kami kumpleto kaya kita na nahirapan kaming manalo pero this time, in-encourage ko talaga ‘yong mga kasamahan ko na maglaro na para makalaban na kami. Naging maganda ‘yong performance namin at inaasahan ko na next game ay gano’n ulit,” shared WSP’s Albert Ramos.

Meanwhile, RD Aguilos, on the other side, only saw the upset loss as a wakeup call to further strengthen their game plan through maximizing the time they still have to train their players in preparation for their upcoming games.
